Mawnan Pre-School – Playground Canopy

Clovis was delighted to work with Mawnan Pre‑School to create a welcoming and practical outdoor space that allows children to enjoy the benefits of fresh air all year round.

To meet this requirement, Clovis installed a Wave Form Oxford Canopy, a contemporary variation of our Oxford lean‑to design. The canopy follows the contours of the adjoining building to create a seamless extension and provides a generous protected area within the playground. This space offers an open‑plan environment where children can enjoy outdoor play throughout the seasons.

The structure is clad in durable polycarbonate, allowing natural light to filter through whilst providing effective protection from the elements. The steel framework is finished in RAL 5010 Gentian Blue, giving the canopy a vibrant and welcoming appearance that complements the existing pre‑school setting. Downpipes were integrated into the front posts to direct rainwater away from the main play area, helping to keep the surface dry and safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will our concerns over children and staff safety be addressed prior to installation?: We have been working within schools for many years. All contractors are Clovis approved and CRB checked. Full risk assessments are carried out prior to starting installation taking into consideration your requirements and safety fencing is erected wherever needed at no additional charge.
Do you fix your canopies directly onto tarmac?: No, all canopies are fixed on to concrete pads or bases as the structures can lift out from the ground if not fixed into a suitable concrete base due to the uplift created by wind acting on the roof area.
Are your canopies usable all year in all weathers?: Yes unlike some solutions that need to be taken down in the winter or during high winds our canopies are designed to be useable all year round. The cladding materials as well as providing shade are also waterproof so that they can be used during wet weather.
Can we view existing canopies, so that we know what we are buying?: If you are considering purchasing a canopy from any company, it is in fact strongly recommended that you visit an existing installation to see exactly what you are paying for. We are very pleased with how they look and that they will be a ‘boon’ for our children in terms of shade and rain protection. The space we used for the canopies is a main thoroughfare to our playgrounds.
